Curriculum Tips..... The Week of December 9th

A helpful social studies resource is www.eharcourtschool.com .  You can access the Harcourt Text and Leveled Readers.

Information that is needed by the teacher to access the resources is the Teachers Edition (ISBN) and the school zip code

Details:  Teachers can create a generic log-in for all of their students or individual student log-ins if they wish.  Teachers can also just create a personal log-in and not student log-ins if they wish.

What is going on in Science Enrichment with Mr. D?

Kindergarten:  The children are learning the difference between moving fast and slow.  They are connecting these concepts with animal movements.

First Grade: The first graders are learning about how the elements (air, water, soil, sun, fire) effect the earth?

Second GradeThe second graders are “tracking” the direction of the wind.  They are also learning how to use a compass and what the cardinal directions are.  This will lead into making wind instruments for the purpose of studying weather.

Third Grade:  Third graders are answering the question-  What is a constellation?  They are acting out myths related to the constellations and creating constellations using marshmallows and toothpicks.

Fourth Grade:    Let's dig in the Fossil Pile!

Fifth GradeThe students are designing a catapult and learning about the force and motion of a it.
