What's Happening in Science with Mr. D

Mr. D is working hard with your students.

The Kindergarten students are "pushing and pulling" using magnets.
The First Graders are talking about the moon and what gravity is through a hands-on activity.
The Second Graders are "checking the weather" daily and learning that "air really does take up space".
The Third Graders are talking about landforms.
The Fourth Grade students are in the middle of classifying rocks.
The Fifth Grade students are discussing force and motion as they build ramps and put vegetables "on the move".

Mr. D is teaching key vocabulary words as the children experiment, build, and use hands-on objects.

More News About TRC.....

Teaching Comprehension.....

  • Use the question stems at the TRC Level on which your student(s) is reading when writing questions for your guided reading groups.
  • Teach the "academic vocabulary" that may be in the question.  For example, teach cause and effect....before giving the student a question like....  What are the three causes of _____________________?
  • Many times the student reads at a higher reading level then the level in which he or she is comprehending accurately.  If this is happening to one of your students, teach comprehension at the child's reading level.  Use the question stems at that reading level in your daily instruction.
